About clevrkids

We are a team of psychologists and data experts dedicated to making cognitive abilities assessment accessible to every child.

Our Mission

Founded in Coventry, our mission is to democratize access to high-quality intelligence testing. We believe every parent should have the tools to understand their child's IQ potential without expensive clinical fees that can exceed £500 per session. Too many families, particularly those outside major cities, lack affordable access to cognitive screening, and we set out to change that.

Our online iq test for kids is built on the principles of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale (WISC-V), the most widely used and respected paediatric intelligence assessment in the world. We've adapted key question formats, pattern matrices, verbal analogies, and spatial reasoning tasks, into an engaging, child-friendly digital environment that children actually enjoy completing.

We serve parents, educators, and schools across the United Kingdom, Europe, and beyond. Whether you're a parent curious about your child's cognitive development, or a school looking for a cost-effective screening tool for gifted programmes, clevrkids provides reliable, actionable insights.

Scientific Rigor & Methodology

Every question in our assessment has been developed, reviewed, and validated by professionals with backgrounds in psychometrics, developmental psychology, and educational research. We don't guess, we test our tests. Each item undergoes statistical analysis for difficulty, discrimination, and bias before it is included in the live assessment.

We collaborate with educational institutions and independent researchers to refine our datasets. By analyzing thousands of anonymised results, we continuously update our norms to ensure our IQ score calculations remain accurate across different demographics, age groups, and educational backgrounds. Our normative sample is refreshed annually to account for the well-documented Flynn Effect, the observed rise in average IQ scores over time.

Transparency matters to us. Our scoring methodology uses standard deviation metrics (mean=100, SD=15), consistent with internationally recognised clinical tools. We publish our confidence intervals and always remind users that our test is a screening tool, not a clinical diagnosis.

What We Measure

Our assessment evaluates multiple dimensions of cognitive ability, mirroring the factor structure used in professional intelligence testing:

Fluid Reasoning

The ability to solve novel problems without relying on prior knowledge. This is measured through pattern matrices and sequence completion.

Verbal Comprehension

Understanding word relationships, definitions, and analogies. This maps to crystallized intelligence and language development.

Spatial Processing

Mental rotation of objects, visualising transformations, and understanding 2D/3D relationships. Key for STEM aptitude.

Our Team

clevrkids was founded by a team with deep expertise in psychometrics and child development. Our core contributors hold advanced degrees from leading UK universities and bring a combined 30+ years of experience in educational assessment, data science, and clinical psychology.

We are based at Coventry University Technology Park, which provides us access to cutting-edge research facilities and a vibrant academic community. This location allows us to stay at the forefront of intelligence research and incorporate the latest findings into our assessments.

Our advisory board includes practising educational psychologists, primary and secondary school headteachers, and specialists in gifted education. Every major update to our platform is reviewed by this panel before it reaches users.

Our Commitment to Ethics

Intelligence testing has a complex history, and we take our ethical responsibilities seriously. We are committed to:

  • Bias reduction: Our items are regularly audited for cultural, gender, and socioeconomic bias. Questions that show differential item functioning across demographic groups are flagged and removed.
  • Privacy first: We do not sell user data. Test results are stored securely and are accessible only by the parent or guardian who initiated the assessment.
  • Responsible communication: We never describe a child as "unintelligent." Our reports focus on strengths and areas for development, and always recommend professional follow-up for outlier scores.
  • Transparency: We openly state the limitations of online testing and always encourage clinical follow-up for important decisions (school placement, gifted programmes, etc.).
